You're so sweet, Angela!! Thank you so much for reading my blog! Taylor is 2 years and 4 months. We didn't start until she basically asked me if she could start using the potty : ) And, even then, once it was on "my terms" we struggled at first. She is a VERY independent little gal, so the concept of taking her to the potty on regular intervals (as some books/people will say to do) was NOT WORKING. It caused nothing but stress actually, in our case. Edible Rewards and a sticker chart (that she even picked out!) were also not high enough level reinforcement to get her to buy in....What ended up working for us was me reminding her to tell me when SHE had to go potty, and rewarding her with little ShopKins every time she went successfully. Literally, the minute I introduced the ShopKins idea she was TRYING constantly to go successfully and we have had 2 accidents total in 2 weeks! Every kiddo is different, but I think my takeaway has been to find a reinforcer that is rewarding enough to gain that buy-in - because potty training is intimidating for us as parents, but also the little ones!! That's kind of the basic version, but I think I'll put a post together with some more specific tips. Are we connected on Facebook? If not, find me (Ashley Samadani!) - I share lots of parenting/motherhood content there as well : )

In reply to Angela Myers.

You’re so sweet, Angela!!
